Christmas Tradition

What is your Christmas tradition? Share something that means a lot to you!

One thing that I have decided to start doing is to make a Christmas scrapbook. I want to make one page for every christmas, so years down the line when I have kids, grand kids, etc, we can look back at how things were!

Holiday Tea

I have never experienced the CVC tradition of the women's holiday tea... i've always been out of the country on a missions trip. Last night I got a sneek peek into the tea preparation frenzy! I walked into the atrium in awe of all the glitter, christmas and fall decor, and women running around in "decorating mode."

Cars seemed to be lined up outside the entry way for miles... women unloading china, silverwear, fru fru things i've never seen before. It was crazy. ANYWAYS, just wanted to say that i'm excited for my first Holiday Tea tonight! I saw some previews of some pretty amazing tables...

Back to the Best Friend Question...

My friend Natalie wrote an awesome blog around the earlier blog post about best friends. I love that she is so open, honest, and real. If you want to read about what she things about best friends, I want to encourage you to check out her blog:

Live Authentic

At our last Wednesday night class in the Significant Woman study, someone brought up the great question, "How do live authentically?" Its a great question because we KNOW we are supposed to live that way as Christians, but when you actually think about the question the answers aren't always the most obvious. I think its the little things we do each day that make us authentic or not.

At a bible study that I go to at Kathy Strandquist's house this topic came up, and I thought I'd share some of the points that we discussed on how to live an authentic life:
1. Actions match words and words match actions
2. Don't hide when you mess up
3. Be vulnerable
4. Be honest and confess when you haven't been honest
5. Honesty in all things
6. Be real- not pseudo
7. Be honest when you aren't feeling great but let them know you are trying your best to show humanness
8. Be honest about flaws
There seems to be a common theme... honesty and being real and open with people. Does this mean you have an excuse to whine and complain to everyone you see about your bad day? Nope. But it does give you the freedom to let those close to you into your life and let them love you for who you are... and you for them too.

How are you living authentically? What are some other ways to be authentic?
Hope you have a great Monday!

Just a quick note about why I love lifegroups

One of my favorite things about Cedar Valley is all of the lifegroup opportunities that are available. Just wanted to give a shout out to the girls at U30 last Thursday... I had SO much fun with you!

Who else could I recall old worship songs from the early 1980s and dance around with? Or discuss the different types of worship poses that tend to fit different age groups... some even turning into shadow puppets. Some of the most fun moments in life come from the silliest conversations... surrounded by the people you are free to be yourself with! Even if I looked like a fool dancing around the room laughing til i cried, I know I'll always be welcome back :)

To those who might not be in a lifegroup, I promise we aren't a bunch of crazy people! We just have lots of moments of pure joy and fun together! What is your favorite lifegroup memory? What makes an awesome lifegroup? What do you bring to the lifegroup you are apart of? Let me know!

SOO...What Did You Think?

Our first SHE event has come and gone! Wow, I had lots of fun. To those who came, what was your favorite part? I personally really enjoyed hearing Kathy Strandquist say "fart" in the microphone... I never thought I would hear that come out of her mouth! I guess that goes to show that we "Shes'" are unpredictable!

What was your favorite part? Do you have any feedback? We want to hear from you! Or, comment and share a story of something that really impacted you. I am so excited to see us all grow and connect more with one another!!

Welcome to SHE!

Welcome to our blog! Are you coming to our first She event on Sunday, September 21st? I hope to see you all there at 6:30! I thought it would be fun to take a poll and see what everyones favorite chick flick is... you will notice it on the right side of the page.

If you really can't decide between any of the options, comment on this post and let us know what your favorite one is! I watched Father of the Bride last night... Dustin and I got it as our first engagement present! I have to say that it seems to get funnier and funnier the more I watch it.

Happy voting!
